The addition of RG-92 to our koi food proved to be a real breakthrough. Originally, we planned to use these unique microalgae from Beppu only in food for larger koi. However, after visiting Sarabio and speaking with the producer of RG-92, we discovered that the greatest benefits are achieved when applied at a young age. This makes perfect sense. Early development is the most important phase in a koi’s life, and high-quality nutrition during this period lays the foundation for its future potential.
KiGen therefore developed a special tosai food with LT71 fishmeal, millet, a balanced vitamin and mineral premix, and RG-92. Particular attention was paid to skin quality, color development, and healthy skeletal growth.
Below is an excerpt from our interview with Sarabio.
Question: We have decided to add RG-92 to our premium food for larger koi. What can koi keepers expect from this, and what is your view on the potential benefits?
Answer: We conducted 17 years of research on the effects of RG-92 on humans, followed by another 5 years on the effects on other living organisms. In total, our research spans 22 years. Our conclusion is that a healthy gut environment is of crucial importance.
For breeding Nishikigoi of the highest quality, correct timing is essential, just as early childhood is a crucial developmental phase in humans. In fish, this corresponds to the period from hatching, through the fry and tosai phases, up to the early nisai phase.
If young koi do not develop a strong immune system and healthy intestinal villi during this important period, they are less able to efficiently absorb nutrients in the small intestine. This makes them more susceptible to diseases and can lead to reduced appetite and slower growth.
Therefore, it is of great importance to provide RG-92 from this early life stage, so that:
In other words: RG-92 helps the koi to eat more efficiently, utilize nutrients better, and develop in a healthy way. I am convinced that it is possible to breed truly exceptional Nishikigoi when koi are raised with this high-quality nutritional approach.
